Marie Hays Ferdinandsen Ursprung
August 20, 1927 - November 16, 2023
Marie Hays Ferdinandsen Ursprung, 96, of Savannah, GA, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2023, surrounded by her loving daughters. Born August 20, 1927, in Savannah, GA, Marie was the beloved daughter of Alvin G. and Alice Farmer Hays.
She was predeceased by her husbands: Donald A. Ferdinandsen (1959 - 1985) and John C. Ursprung, Jr. (1989 - 2015), and brother Alvin G. Hays, Jr. (FL).
Marie is survived by her daughters Amy Ferdinandsen Dressler (Michael) of Seekonk, MA, Kim Ferdinandsen Isaacson (Brad) of Suwanee, GA, Grandchildren, Colby (AZ), Lindsay (HI) and Brent Dressler (MA.), Noël (GA) and Drew Isaacson (GA), Stepdaughter, Stephanie May (Dick) (GA), Stepsons, John C. Ursprung (DE) Will Ursprung (PA), Step Grandchildren Col. David W. May (Dawn), Dr. Cindi May (Steven), Sharon Bell (Bill), Steven May, and Quinn Ursprung and many Step Great Grandchildren.
Marie, a lifelong Savannah resident, lived a remarkable life filled with many achievements and interests. She graduated from Savannah High School at the age of 16 as Valedictorian. Marie had a passion for painting, golf, bridge, gardening and was a fantastic cook. She was a longtime member of Savannah Golf Club, an active member of both the Savannah Yacht Club and the Savannah Garden Club.
She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.

Marie was one of my late mother Joan Winkers Jones' oldest friends from school. She was also one of her bridesmaids in my parents' 1949 wedding, and they remained good friends until my my mother passed away in 2007. It was at Mother's 80th. birthday luncheon in December 2006 at the Savannah Golf Club that she last saw Marie. She'd been playing golf that morning and stopped by to visit and have some cake. Marie was a lovely woman, always kind and ready with a smile. Sending you all my heart and condolences on your loss.
